The main objective of the CAMP project (2009-2011) was to estimate the effective connectivity between Marine Protected Areas (MPA) in the southwest Indian Ocean (SWIO) through population genetics of 3 biological models Epinephelus merra, Lutjanus kasmira and Myripristis berndti. The ultimate goal is to provide scientific results for managers to contribute significantly to the design of the MPA network in SWIO. The main aim of the CAMP project (2009-2011) is to estimate the efficient connectivity between the Marine Protected Areas (MPA) of the South-West Indian Ocean (SWIO). For that purpose, we use a population genetics approach on 3 reef fishes: Epinephelus merra, Lutjanus kasmira et Myripristis berndti. The overall goal of the project is to provide new elements to MPA managers that will contribute to design the best network of MPAs in the SWIO. In the first year of the project, most of the time was spent to sample fishes. Based on collaborations with 5 international and national partners, we succeed to sample more than 1100 fishes within 12 sites of the SWIO. More than 850 of the 1100 fishes were already sequenced. Depuis 2010, le programme HLiN s’attache à suivre la colonisation et le recrutement des huîtres naturelles sur les côtes du département de la Manche. Après une période d’adaptation des protocoles à la réalité normande, il s’est posé la question de l’origine du recrutement des huîtres, notamment pour la côte ouest du Cotentin, entre les falaises de Champeaux et Saint Germain / Ay. Suite à ses travaux sur la dérive larvaire des moules de pêche en baie de Seine, le LERN de Port en Bessin avait mis au point un modèle de courantologie en 3 dimensions appelé NORM (issu du code MARS 3D). The GERMON project had several aims i) to understand the populations’ structure between albacore tuna southwest of the Indian Ocean and southeast Atlantic, ii) to determine the origin of juveniles observed in South Africa iii) to improve the understanding of the biology field (Size/Size and Size/Weight; reproduction and feeding area; trophic linkages) and iv) to initiate work on chemical analyzes and adaptation of the albacore species to its environment. These aims have been held and the results allow a better understanding of the management albacore. A general summary of results is presented in Part 9. |
